Firework Awareness Month

July is Firework Awareness month here at Moore Veterinary Clinic!

We’ve dedicated a whole month to making owners aware of how scared their pets can get on July 4th because it is the ONE day per year that the most pets are lost. Although we love celebrating our nation’s independence with beautiful fireworks, these come with loud noises that frequently scare pets. To calm pets, make sure they are indoors with light sounds like music or the TV to distract them as well as their favorite chew toy. Putting them in a crate or kennel might also aid in allowing them to feel slightly more protected. It is also very important to make sure they have up-to-date information on their collar such as their name, owner’s address, and emergency phone number in case they do get frightened and run away; the microchip serves as a great permanent identification tool as well!

So, on this July 4th, MVC wishes our clients as well as our patients a happy and safe Independence Day!
